We’re about a month away from our first planned rides of the year — hard to believe!

Now is a great time to give your bicycle a careful once-over (or schedule a tune-up with your local shop).
A few minutes of preparation now can prevent delays and frustration later.

Pre-Season Bike Check
• Tires: good tread, no sidewall cracks, no embedded debris
• Brakes: pads not worn down, cables and hydraulics working smoothly
• Chain and drivetrain: clean, lubricated, and not excessively stretched
• Bolts and quick releases/axles: snug and secure

Mechanical issues can happen to any of us, but in a group setting they affect everyone.
A little preseason maintenance helps keep our rides smooth, safe, and enjoyable for the whole club.

Be Self-Sufficient
Please carry what you need to handle a flat or minor mechanical problem:
• Spare tube (or appropriate repair kit)
• Tire levers
• Inflation (pump or CO₂)
• Multi-tool
• Any specific items your bike requires

We’re always happy to help one another — that’s part of what makes the SOBs such a great group — but each rider should be prepared to take care of their own basic needs.
