To all you SOBs:

This Thursday is the last regular season ride, followed by our end of season luncheon at the Capital Grill. I hope to see you there.

Even though the regular season is over, there are two rider groups that assemble three times a week for ad hoc rides, weather permitting. To see where these rides start and at what times, please go to the ride schedule tab of the SOB website. To join one or another of the methods of communication, they are listed on that page or on the home page.

The luncheon is usually a time to thank the board and ride leaders and give them a token of our appreciation. But board and I have made decision to forgo that this year. First, we need to replenish our treasury so that we have sufficient funds to pay our insurance bill, which comes due February 1. That is the reason we are not subsidizing the luncheons this year or giving anything tangible to the people who volunteer to run our club and lead our rides. Second, it is always difficult to get everyone’s attention at a large gathering. So I am taking this opportunity to express the club’s appreciation on behalf of all of us.

We owe a debt of gratitude to our directors (and some others) who keep the club functioning:

Judy who kept us going all these years, and as president emeritus, helped us raise funds for the Food Depot
Bob, Ian, and Kendall who created the website and/or maintain it
Bob, Ian, and Rich who keep track of membership
Rich who keeps our treasury and various lists
Lore who is the social director and coordinates the luncheon(s)
Christine who keeps the minutes of board meetings
Michael who coordinates with sponsors
Steve who was an advocate and represented us on the City’s BPAC
Bob and me who coordinate the rides, both during the season and ad hoc year round
Alan, Adrian, and Bill who took major responsibility for putting together the Thursday regular season rides for the B and C groups.
I also do legislative advocacy and am pleased that we got an “Idaho stop” law passed in NM and also got bike education incorporated into required driver education.

We also owe a debt of gratitude to the ride leaders, without whom we would lose our insurance coverage, not to mention have chaotic rides:
A group:

Till Thursday,
Lynn
