SOB Info Notes for April 27, 2016

Judy Costlow, SOB President and Ride Director is back home in Santa Fe. It is wonderful to see her looking so good and willing to spend time with all her friends at theTravel Bug. It will take her a few more weeks before she is ready to join us at one of our rides but given her rate of progress don’t be surprised to see her soon.

This week the rides start at the Madrid ball park parking area at 10:00 am. To get credit for the ride you are required to sign up and do the scheduled ride. Riders that meet at the starting point and do their own ride are not covered by the club’s insurance.

The Senior Cycling Olympics is scheduled for May 7th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The starting point is the Road Runner RV Park. Contact Dick Roth at: richardroth2300@msn.com.

Some SOB data: there were 61 riders last week. The current membership numbers are: 6 sponsors, 7 life members, 29 new members, and 85 renewals for a total of 127.

The membership drive ends on May 5th. Please be sure and renew your membership by that time to ensure your name on the official list that will be published in May.

We are looking at the second week in May to open the Pactimo Cycling Apparel web store for those wanting to order SOB club items. There will be more information later on this.

Tentatively the Ride Leader training will be sometime in the last couple weeks of May. The exact date is being decided now. This training is for our HERO’s and Ride Leaders. Anyone wanting to be certified as an SOB Ride Leader is required to complete this training and be a HERO on three rides. The format will be the same as last year but with some new faces.

The New Mexico Touring Society has May 7th (Saturday) for the Lee Memorial dedication. Bob Hilley is one of the SOB’s earliest members. The location and dedication will be at the bench (in the grove Arroyo Chamiso, immediately adjacent to Yucca Street Bridge) and the start time will be 9:30 AM.
