Bike Santa Fe is pleased to again offer the League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling class. This is a class designed for adults (over 15) who know how to ride but would like to gain more skills and knowledge to feel safer and more confident riding in an urban environment on the street and on multi-use trails.

The class includes an online portion, a classroom session, and an on-bike session. The online portion is done at the student’s convenience, but must be completed before the classroom session. The classroom session is Thursday, July 25 from 6-9 pm. This includes changing a tire/fixing a flat and a section on the legal and situational aspects of an accident.

The on-bike session is most of a day (Saturday, July 27), including skills practiced in a controlled, parking lot environment and on-street riding that integrates all the skills and knowledge you’ve gained during the class.  There is a classroom exam and an on-bike exam which lead to a Smart Cycling certificate and is required to go on to become a League Certified Instructor.  We are particularly looking for more people who can and would like to work with schools during weekdays.

Please DO NOT register if you cannot attend the FULL day Saturday. Our instructors volunteer their time.

The fee is $30. Helmets and a bicycle in reasonably good working order are required.

To register, visit https://bikeleague.com by July 21.
