Riding on ANY SOB ride implies consent to our liability waiver AND our Covid 19 waiver. Click Join SOB link in main menu, fill out both waivers, and submit.
There are rides every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday – weather permitting. Tuesday and Saturday are always ad hoc. Thursday from April thru October is planned, the rest of the year Thursday is ad hoc. Start locations are listed below for ad hoc and Thursday winter rides.
Ad Hoc Start time: Jan and Feb 11.00 March tbd.
Note that start times will change each month during the year as temps dictate. Blog post will announce changes from the above. Thursday rides USUALLY start at the same time as the ad hoc rides for that month but travel times can adjust the start time.
- Tuesday Ad Hoc Ride. DeVargas Two groups. Energetic and Relaxed.
- Thursday Ad Hoc Rides. January: Museum Hill. February SFCC March Outlet Mall – all groups unless noted in blog.
- Saturday Ad Hoc Ride El Camino Academy Energetic (A,A-)
- Saturday Ad Hoc Ride DeVargas Relaxed (B, B+)
Location changes, if any, via blog post in advance.
Gravel Saturday Ad Hoc Ride if any, will be advertised via blog post at least a day before.
In Season (April – Oct) Thursday Rides:
You must signup online to ride on Thursday.
Instructions:
1. Click the ride name (in red) below.
2. Fill out the form as explained below. Signups are open until ride start time.
a. Select the number of spaces you are reserving (1 or 2), You may sign up one other person besides yourself.
b. Enter your FIRST name (or an alias, we don’t care) and optionally last name initial. NOTE: The names you enter will be visible on the website to everyone so we strongly suggest you do not enter your full last name. WEBSITE MEMBERS NOTE: If you are logged in to the SOB website when you signup for a ride your full name and email will be filled in automatically. Edit out your last name.
c. If you are registering two people enter the second persons FIRST name.
d. Enter your email address (it will not be shown on the detailed ride page) so we can contact you if needed and so that you can receive a confirmation of your signup. If you do not get a confirmation email, you may have entered your email incorrectly or the reply may be in your spam folder.
e. Enter the ride group and subgroup you want to join using CAPITAL letters. Choices are restricted to: C/B-/B/B+/A-/A. If you submit your registration and it says you did not fill out this field then you did not put in one of the required letters in capitals.
f. click Join the Ride to submit your registration.
3. You will see a message “Booking successful” if everything is good. You will also get an email confirming your registration.
Caveats:
If less than a total of 5 riders are signed up on the day before the ride (subgroups are totaled, so if B- B B+ have 5 or more total then good to go) that ride group may be cancelled, with no blog post but with a tweet. You can see how many have signed up by going to the ride detail page where you signed up.
If you cannot make it to a ride you have signed up for, no worries, no need to cancel or email anyone. Same goes for changes, no need to request to change it. (Aren’t we evolved?)
Day of Ride: ALWAYS Check Twitter feed (#sfsobsf) for last minute information on all planned Thursday Rides. Rides may be cancelled with almost no notice due to: T-storms, excessive heat, smoke from fires, etc. If a ride is cancelled, there will be a tweet. Ride leaders can alter any ride at their sole discretion up to and including cancelling the ride. On all rides, it is your choice whether to ride or not.
