Several people have been asking me about the Albuquerque Railrunner ride. This coming Tuesday, August 16 looks like a good day. Temps should be in the 70’s – 80’s with very light winds. Plan is to start at the 599 RR station at 8:00am, ride to Abq and catch the 2:35 Abq Los Ranchos train back. Ride is 70 miles with 3,300 feet of climbing. Good part is the last 20 miles are downhill with a pizza n beer stop near the end. There’s a backup train at 4:41 and another at 5:49 but I think moving along steadily at a 15-17mph pace will get us there in plenty of time. Planned stops for breaks/regrouping will be Bonanza Creek store, Madrid, Golden, Sandia Triangle gas station, Slice pizza, Whiting coffee, RR station.
