The SOB Board is scheduled to meet on October 11th. Some of the items on the agenda include: celebrating our 20th anniversary, becoming a New Mexico Nonprofit, e-bike riders, sag support on rides, ride classification, and creating a Clare Rhoades Award. Lore is collecting for the End of the Season Award Luncheon. George Gamble will be the MC this year. Mark your calendar: October 20, 1:00 pm at Pecos Trail Cafe, 2239 Old Pecos Hwy. The cost is $15.00 (tax and tip included).

The official SOB club photo will be retaken on October 20 at the Museum Hill parking area before the start of the ride at 10:00 am.

Wed., Oct. 5: “Walk and Roll to School Day” – New Mexico’s statewide celebration of the 20th International Walk to School Day.  You can celebrate by walking or biking your child or grandchild to school!  Cesar Chavez Elementary has organized their annual event, and there is talk at Carlos Gilbert and other schools, too . . . Sat., Oct. 8, 9:30 am: “Tour de Mural” Community Cruise, starting at the Railyard Park.  Visit and learn about local murals as part of a slow bike ride along the Rail, Acequia, and River Trails, and mellow connecting streets in between.  Supported by City of Santa Fe Parks and Recreation Dept. and the Santa Fe Conservation Trust, with refreshments provided by Whole Foods.  More information at http://www.sfct.org/event/tour-de-mural-a-community-cruise-celebrating-wall-art?instance_id=81107 

Sat., Oct. 15, 9 am – 1 pm:  “Share the Trails Ride” for equestrians and mountain bikers at Galisteo Basin Preserve.  Meeting at the “Cowboy Shack” (see map and other information at http://galisteobasinpreserve.com/)  Hosted by the Commonweal Conservancy, with refreshments and grillables to be provided by the Santa Fe Fat Tire Society.  Please RSVP to Gretchen Grogan at gretchen.grogan@commonwealconservancy.org so they can be sure to have enough food for the lunch at 11:30 – 1 pm.  (Please title your email message: RSVP for Share the Trails Ride.)

Sat., Oct. 22, 7 am – noon: ATC Flaming Chicken Run.  5 Km dirt trail run and 1 mile run/walk benefiting the Academy for Technology and the Classics, 74 A Van Nu Po Rd. in Rancho Viejo.  More information at http://www.atcflamingchicken.com/ 

Sat., Oct. 22, National Park Service Centennial Trail Rides for equestrians, meeting at Dead Dog Well off of Buckman Rd.  Low-, Medium- and High-Intensity rides available.  For more information, and to reserve a spot, contact Sue Murphy at suemurphy505@comcast.net .
