(1) The Folk Art Market is this weekend! Details are available at https://www.folkartalliance.org/events-programs/international-folk-art-market-santa-fe/

Biking instead of Parking:  Because there is no parking, and not even a way to get to the market in a private car, the best way to get there is to ride a bike.  As usual, Bike Santa Fe has organized a “Bike Valet” to watch over your bike while you visit the market this Saturday and Sunday.  The organizers asked me to draw up a map showing various bike routes to the market, attached – keep in mind that you will not be able to enter Camino Lejo from Old Santa Fe Trail, so all of the routes enter from the south via Camino Corrales.

(2) Alta Vista St. is prominent on the map as the start of the route from S. Capital Railrunner station.  The City recently installed nine-foot curb extensions near the Salvador Perez Recreation Center, and legalized parking all along the south side of the street, serving to now squeeze cyclists into narrow lanes shared with motorists.  Nevertheless it is still the best available route from the train station and Rail Trail to Galisteo St., Don Gaspar and beyond.  FYI this project also included the construction of a brand new, nearly 50-space parking lot at the Recreation Center, and added new parking spaces on the north side of Alta Vista St. as well.

Parking instead of Biking?  If you would like to talk about, or hear about, this City project that seems to value copious parking over multi-modal accommodation, please come to the Bicycle and Trails Advisory Committee (BTAC) next Wed. at 5:30, agenda will be posted at http://www.santafenm.gov/bicycle_trails_advisory_committee_packets

Thanks, Tim
