Time for our annual tarantula spotting ride! The SOB ride schedule for Oct 23 lists the c ride starting at museum hill. I’m leading an alt ride in pilar. The tarantula ride. (Hopefully we’ll see some).
20 mile RT, out in the open on the mesa top w spectacular views, mostly flat, starts at 10:00. Out and back. No services. Bring your own supplies.
From pilar, nm turn left at the rio grande gorge visitors center. Go about 6 miles thru orilla verde recreation area to the Taos junction bridge. Turn left, across the bridge and go up out of the gorge to the west mesa top on the steep gravel road. Low riders should maybe go on the all paved route to the west thru ojo to get to the starting point. (Look on google maps for that route). Once on top of the mesa there’s a parking lot. We start there.
